Last week saw Odyssey Airlines at the Farnborough International Airshow. Held every year (rotating annually between Farnborough and Le Bourget, Paris), the show is an excellent opportunity to engage with investors, manufacturers, lessors and the financing community. Bombardier celebrated passing the 500 mark for firm orders and commitments of the CSeries aircraft. This is a major milestone for the CSeries program as it reaffirms the CSeries as a credible and financeable aircraft for current and future airlines, including Odyssey itself.
Bombardier, together with Pratt & Whitney (the engine manufacturer) briefed Odyssey on its testing program and in particular a recent engine issue which has temporarily halted flight testing. Bombardier and Pratt & Whitney have identified the underlying cause, designed the required solution and are both working towards recommencing flight testing. Crucially for Odyssey, the CSeries is on track, and the required level of performance for our unique application of this game-changing aircraft is on target.
The Odyssey team spent a great deal of time together with many of the industry’s top financing and leasing firms, with an announcement relating to the finance of our particular aircraft imminent.
Several existing and future potential investors were on hand to see the CSeries cabin mock-up which attracted significant interest throughout the show.
Odyssey will be making further announcements in due course, and we continue to look forward to our launch in 2016.
